MADRID, Spain: In response to a request from the Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies and the recommendations of the national health ministry, the organisers of EXPODENTAL have decided to postpone the event to 2–4 July 2020.

The biennial EXPODENTAL, which was scheduled to be held next week in Madrid, is the leading fair for the dental industry in Spain, bringing together more than 360 national and international exhibitors. In 2018, over 31,000 professionals attended the trade fair.

Since the first reports of a novel coronavirus (since named SARS-CoV-2) in the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of December 2019the outbreak has rapidly evolved. Cases of COVID-19, the disease this coronavirus causes, have occurred in Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and North America. This week, the number of confirmed cases in Spain reached 261, and three people in the country has already died from the disease. Spanish health officials recommended the cancellation of all medical congresses and meetings in order to keep medical staff available to contain the spread of the disease.
